- HOPE Program Addresses Mental Health in Those on ProbationStark County’s HOPE Program is an alternative to prison for those who have a history of mental health issues and are involved in a probation offense.

Yet, it’s vital to secure health care coverage to stay healthy and offset large medical expenses. The Ohio Medicaid program offers those who qualify a way to obtain state-funded medical insurance, which provides coverage for many important health care services at little or no cost to the individual. And the typical answer? “Fine.”
Getting your child to say anything more can be a lot of work.
But what if you stopped thinking of the child’s attitude as the problem, and started with the question? What if there were some truly interesting questions you could ask your family? And what if they were excited to think about them and answer?
- Opiate Resources
In recent years, heroin use has been on the rise across the nation, throughout Ohio and in Stark County. According to Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery (StarkMHAR), 1,444 members of our community were treated for opiate use in 2016 – nearly six times the number treated 10 years earlier. Find resources and programs to help raise awareness, educate the community and combat this growing epidemic.

Overdose kits include Narcan (naloxone) nasal spray that reverses the effects of opiate overdose. Once administered, it can quickly restore breathing, reverse the effects of opioids, and prevent death. (It’s harmless if given to someone not having an opiate overdose.)
With the rise in the use of opioids in Stark County, you should know where you can get an overdose kit. This is especially true if someone you know is using opioid drugs—you may save their life.

- Gang ViolenceWhile being part of a gang is dangerous, escaping from a gang family may be even more so. Gangs typically don’t want members to leave because there’s a fear of betrayal – that they’ll expose what they know to law enforcement or even a rival gang. Every baby should grow up in an environment where they are loved and protected. However, sometimes young children are placed in unfortunate situations that jeopardize their safety and well-being. Whenever a parent is unable to provide adequate care, a child may be removed from their home and paired with a foster or adoptive family.
Currently, many children in Stark County are in need of fostering or adoption, especially children with functional needs and sibling groups.
