Most school districts in Stark County have several safety measures in place which can include:

• Access to two-way radios to contact police or communicate with staff at other buildings.
• ALICE-trained staff who must complete practice scenarios as part of preparedness training.
• Cameras inside and outside school buildings and on all buses.
• Clinical counselors in all buildings, as well as the availability of retired school counselors.
• Emergency plans that are updated and certified annually.
• Locked doors at all entrances.
• Police and school resource officers stationed in the schools.
• Requirements for all visitors to sign in and show identification.
• Suicide prevention counseling and training services.

A task force has been created to formulate short and long-term strategies to help address school safety issues for all Stark County school districts. Some of the proposed safety solutions discussed are outlined in the recent Stark County Schools Safety and Security Task Force Report.
