Early learning programs are important for the education, growth and development of young children. As a parent or caregiver, you want a childcare option that is safe, nurturing and trustworthy. Finding affordable childcare resources is also important for many families. There are several local resources to help families find affordable childcare that meets a high level of quality.
Early Childhood Resource Center
The Early Childhood Resource Center provides training and mentoring to early childhood professionals. The goal is to increase the amount of high-quality early childhood education and care available in Stark County. The Center is the gold standard for finding childcare in the area. You can search for high-quality childcare on the Center’s website to find programs in your area. The Center is a partner of StarkHelpCentral and we offer parenting and early childhood support services.
Parenting Classes
The Center provides access programs including parenting education classes, Parent Cafés, peer support groups, individual coaching and job readiness services. There are also programs available specifically for fathers, including mentorship programs taught by dads, for dads. We are here to strengthen families and give parents the tools to be the best they can be. Find more information on parenting classes.
SPARK Kindergarten Readiness
The SPARK (Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids) program helps preschool-age children (3- and 4-year-old kids) have a kindergarten readiness advantage. During program participation, an assigned home advisor, called a parent partner, will visit the home of a family once or twice a month. The parent partner helps the parent engage the child in a lesson that was developed around state standards and is designed to provide a school readiness advantage. A book, an activity card and supplies are given to families at each visit so parents can continue lessons with their children between sessions. Learn more about the SPARK program.
